In pellet mill production, raw material-die matching and qualified production testing are key to product quality. Below are 2 frequently asked questions to help you avoid common production mistakes quickly:
Can the same die press different raw materials? Theoretically yes, but long-term use isn’t recommended. Different raw materials have different adhesion and hardness. They need matching compression ratio dies for optimal forming results. Using one die for multiple materials often causes poor formation and machine clogging, and shortens die service life. We suggest choosing a dedicated compression ratio die based on raw material type.
How to quickly check if pellet mill production meets standards?
We recommend the simple and effective "visual inspection + instrument testing" method:
Visual inspection: Check pellet appearance. Qualified pellets should be smooth, crack-free, dense, with no obvious powder or fragments.
Instrument testing: Use a calorimeter to test pellet calorific value and an ash analyzer for ash content. Qualified data means production meets standards.
Also, note these in production: Crush raw materials evenly in advance to avoid large chunks entering the die; regularly check die and roller wear, and replace parts promptly.
