The cellulose in the biomass material interlocks with one another. Under appropriate humidity and temperature conditions, the lignin releases its inherent adhesiveness.
The material is then extruded by the external force applied by the press rollers, while the frictional resistance from the die holes blocks the forward movement of the material. This combined process ultimately forms pellets with high compactness and density.
