The die compression ratio must be selected correctly.
The moisture content of the raw material shall be controlled within the range of 13% to 18%.
The clearance between the press roller and the die shall be properly adjusted. The recommended optimal range is 0.12 mm to 0.15 mm, and the maximum allowable clearance shall not exceed 0.2 mm.
Effect of raw material particle size on pellet forming: The finer the particle size of the material pulverized by the grinder, the better the pellet formability (with the exception of ultra-fine polishing powder). For ultra-fine powder of 100 mesh and above, the frictional resistance exerted by the die hole wall on the material during compression will decrease, which will lead to an increase in the required compression distance, that is, a higher compression ratio is required.
Impurities in the raw material also have an impact on pellet forming, with different impurities producing varying effects. For example, clay and hydrated lime can facilitate pellet forming, while impurities such as sand will cause pellet disintegration and result in poor forming performance.
