Clearance adjustment for the press rollers of a pellet machine

The gap between the roller and the forming die must be properly adjusted. The recommended optimal range is 0.12–0.15 mm, with a maximum allowable limit of 0.2 mm. A feeler gauge can be equipped to facilitate accurate adjustment.
During roller gap adjustment, die ovality may be encountered — a condition where the roller makes contact with the die at some points while a gap remains at others. For this condition, the jog operation observation and adjustment method shall be adopted, with repeated fine adjustments, until the roller rotates without making contact with the die at the minimum set clearance.
In extreme cases of excessive die ovality (where the ovality exceeds 0.15 mm), the gap shall be set so that the roller just touches the high points of the die during rotation. After the die wears evenly through a period of operation, readjust the gap to ensure the roller rotates without touching the die.
The roller gap must be adjusted regularly according to the pellet discharging condition. Provided that the roller adjustment bolts are not loose, an inspection and gap adjustment shall be performed every 5 to 7 working shifts as a general rule.
